The Maine Indian Tribal-State Commission is pleased to announce the release of its 2025 Annual Report. 2025 was a significant year for the Commission, and we want to share some of the key milestones we achieved together. Our focus was on increasing understanding of the Wabanaki tribal nations and their citizens, and the results reflect that commitment.
With the support of the State of Maine, the Wabanaki nations, several private funders, and the public, MITSC completed numerous educational projects. We revised the MITSC website to be more engaging and easily navigable, with an expanded online library rich in documentary and multimedia resources. An audiobook version of the SEA RUN study of the impact of state policy decisions on traditional tribal fisheries, narrated by Wabanaki voices, was launched. Work began developing a Wabanaki Cultural Competency Course that will provide non-tribal individuals with information and skills to improve communication and collaboration with the tribal nations.
These achievements have set a solid foundation for what is to come. For a more detailed look at the Commission’s performance, you can view the full report: See the Full 2025 Report.
